- The French no longer call me "mademoiselle" but I like to think they wouldn't yet say I'm of a "certain age." A year ago I returned to Canada after teaching overseas for 6 years - 5 in China and 1 in the Middle East. My experiences have "gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind," making it hard sometimes to be home.
